Church School, Beldih Hosts the Frank Anthony Memorial All India Inter-School Debate Competition

Jamshedpur, 24 July 2026: Church School, Beldih proudly hosted the prestigious Frank Anthony Memorial All India Inter-School Debate Competition (Category II), bringing together talented young debaters from leading schools across Jamshedpur. The participating schools included Gulmohur High School, Little Flower School, Loyola School, Rajendra Vidyalaya, Kerala Samajam Model School, Kerala Public School (Mango), and Andhra Association English School. (St. John's High School was absent.) The competition provided students with an excellent platform to showcase their critical thinking, public speaking, and analytical skills. 

The programme commenced with an opening prayer, followed by a warm welcome address by Mrs. Promila Joshua, Vice Principal. The judges were introduced by the moderator, Mrs. Avinash Kaur, Senior English Teacher.

The distinguished panel of judges comprised Dr. Rajkumari Ghosh, Head of the Department of English, Arka Jain University; Dr. Shakibur Rahman Khan, Head of the Department of English, Netaji Subhas University; and Ms. Shalini Ojha, Assistant Professor of English, Srinath University. They were felicitated with bouquets and mementoes by Mr. Avinash Das, Honorary School Secretary, along with members of the School Managing Committee. 

A brief presentation on the life and vision of Late Frank Anthony highlighted his immense contribution to education in India. The moderator then explained the rules of the competition, announced the debate topic, and introduced the speakers. 

Participants displayed remarkable confidence, eloquence, and depth of knowledge while presenting arguments both for and against the motion. Following the debate, the judges appreciated the students' preparation, clarity of thought, and impressive oratory skills. 

After careful deliberation by the judges, the results were declared. 

Best Speaker: SRIJITA DAS from Team G School: KPS, Kadma

Best Speaker Runner Up: HUZAIFA AHMAD from Team H School: Loyola School.  

Best Team: Team G: KPS Kadma 1st Runner Up Team: Team C: KPS Mango. 

Certificates were presented to all participants by the coordinators. The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Sunemi Durgey, HOD, English Faculty, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Principal, Honourable Judges, members of the School Managing Committee, participating schools, teachers, students, coordinators, media personnel, and everyone whose dedicated efforts contributed to the grand success of the event. The programme concluded with the School Song, leaving the audience inspired by the spirit of healthy competition, intellectual excellence, and mutual respect.
